At the end of 2023, the CEO of Järvi-Suomen Terveyde, Markku Hämäläinen, recognized the need to develop the company's strategic management ability and especially to clarify the roles and responsibilities of the OHJ chain (Owners, Board & Management). At the same time, Hämäläinen stated that at the end of the process, a new clarified and crystallized strategy should emerge.
"To implement our development program, we needed a partner who would have new perspectives on the matter. In addition, Joshua's experience and vision were convincing in this framework of strategic management and strategy work. For these two reasons, we chose Joshua and More Than Training Company as our training partners", says Markku.
The goal of the training program was to get the OHJ chain working with roles, i.e.:
- Clarifies the will of the owners and the company's role as part of the owners' service system.
- Clarifies the board's role in the company's strategic management.
- Gives the operative management a mandate to act in their role, based on the defined will of the owners and with the support of the board, in the implementation of the renewed strategy built.
The coaching program consisted of comprehensive background work to understand the current state and desired state, joint face-to-face coaching, Teams sparring, intermediate tasks, and continuous steering group work. At the end of the training program, a clarified, crystallized and ambitious strategy was drawn up for the company.
According to Markku, a clear growth story was formed during the training program, and the initial goals of the program were met excellently. ”There has been a genuine atmosphere of doing things in the training sessions and things have been progressing well. During the training program, the activities of the board and operational management have also become significantly closer.", emphasizes Markku.
During the training program, the flight height in thinking has grown significantly. "It seems that the board that was audited in the spring and the board that made an extremely clear strategy were completely different groups at the level of thinking and doing after the cooperation. The cooperation was also facilitated by the clear direction and plan prepared by Marku, which were followed throughout the entire trip together.", says Joshua, who worked as a coach.
In addition to the final results of the training, thanks are also due to the way in which cooperation was carried forward by Kalle, who worked as a project manager and customer manager, together with the steering group. "The cooperation was always extremely clear and therefore also easy. What was planned and promised to be done was always done. Communication worked and confidential interaction was ongoing throughout the program.", says Markku.
